Boom, Bang, Holy Power!

This week has been pretty frustrating. We were dropped by our new investigator Elisa. Then from Tuesday to Sunday, our bikes have been giving us major grief, which I will tell you all about at the end of the email.

Anyways, we have been doing really well, at least in the "teaching people" aspect of things. We have been getting a lot more on the spot teaching opportunities. It has been supa' good! We have even got a potential named Dee that we found on Wednesday who told us to come back that Saturday, Yahoo! That was awesome because that meant we had the possibility of teaching 3 set lessons!

We also were able to work with Bishop Oliver to get another new investigator. They are a part member family! We have a set appointment to teach them next week as well. It's going to be great. I am super excited to be inviting more people to God's party.

We have also been teaching Ruben more often. The struggle we have with him is that all he does is tell us we have to come over everyday to explain the Book of Mormon chapters to him verse-by-verse. Then we ask to read the Book of Mormon in his own language,  the language he actually understands way better than English and he just blows it off. I have no clue anymore on what we can possible testify of? If you guys have any ideas on scriptures we can use or analogies, that would be much appreciated (and keep praying for him).

We went on a blitz with the Zone Leaders on Thursday.  I got to be in car for an hour with Elder Payne which was a totally Flabby Divs! I love Elder Payne we both have a similar humor so we got along great.

On Saturday we went back to teach Dee.  She opened the door and asked us to come in. Well we were dinguses so we couldn't go in because we forgot to bring a third male with us. However we still got teach her on her porch. We taught the Restoration and invited her to pray and ask if what we taught was true. She prayed. At the end of her prayer she looked up at us and said, "There is definitely something there."  Elder Perkins and I both looked at each other in silence with the expression of "Dang right there's something there." We then invited her to be Baptized and she told that she would think and pray about it. We left her with a Book of Mormon and scheduled a return appointment with her.

We were also able to teach some less actives and get to know them a bit better. Georgia Woody is one of them. She just this little old Lady. She is very nice. We just need to help her remember why she was baptized so she can remember the blessings of being a member of Christ's church.

Well that was our awesome week. Please keep these investigators in your prayers:
Ruben
Andreas
Dee
Joseph
Alex
and Bro. Thorp

Oh forgot to tell you about our bike problems

So this whole week has been rough with our bikes. Elder Perkins had to re-replace his bike peddles. Oh and his brake blew up when we were going down hill.

Then on Thursday, after we had a dinner at a member's house, I met the road.  We were riding away when "Gravity" decided that Elder Northrup would prefer being on the ground, so he took away my agency and I went sideways off of my seat and went crashing on the ground.  At the same time broke one of my bike's brake levers completely came off. I now have a big dark bruised area where the phone was in my pocket and my wrist hurts when I move it, but other than that I am fine. What I thought was ridiculous though was how this one car totally saw that I had just wiped out and just sped off like nothing had happened. Sometimes people are unbelievable.

Oh and I also crashed previous to this crash, but it was a lot slower and I ended up pocket dumping in the end, which is the worst.

In the end Bro. Christiansen helped us fix our bikes.

(This is Elder Northrup's mom speaking... I got a couple pictures from Brother Ramsey.  The Elder's got to try out a new... not yet released... device called a hololens.  Here are some pics of that.

Finders Keepers

My Tag in Garrison Creek area.

Wow this week has honestly been super good. However, I will probably never rides bikes after my mission because of this area. On the bright side my legs might look like tree trunks when you see them in about a year. I really like my new companion. We don't really have anything in common but that is ok.  He still makes me laugh and that is pretty good. He is from St. George and he is convert to the church of about 2 years. He is the only member in his family. He is super awesome. His name is Elder Perkins.

This week has definitely been a big finding week. We are really trying hard to find more new investigators and potentials. It has definitely been a blessing as we have made an effort to find people.

This week has been really great. We have been really making an emphasis on teaching the importance of families and that has allowed us to teach more people and lessons. We also just recently got a new investigator, named Elisa, because of it. We are hoping/praying that we will be able to teach her entire family.

We were also able to find this other guy named Ryan. He was working out when we caught him. He seems pretty legit. We gave him a Restoration pamphlet to read and pray about he told us he would. Pray for him...always!

We also picked a name out of the potentials section of our area book. Her name is Tanisha. She seems so far uncorrupted by the falsehoods that people say about the LDS church. We look forward to teaching her. I'm definitely more of a farmer in this area rather than a harvester. We have been planting tons of seeds everywhere we go. It is absolutely superb!

Oh and we went to the Ramsey's the other night.  They had coleslaw and it was amazing. I super love coleslaw. We also talked about some of our investigators as well. Then we made some plans to contact some of our investigators this week. Afterward they gave me the rest of the coleslaw!!! It was awesome.

Oh... and this week on Bike Problems. The first day we went and hit the bikes Elder Perkins peddle was stripped off and so he had to purchase a new one. Then the other day his new peddle broke clean off. Now he peddles with this small medal bar. Then we were making our way to Ruben's house for an appointment. We were riding away from the church with a soda in my hand and I jumped off the curb.  Well the chain fell off and soda went all over me. When we arrived at Ruben's house I smelt of Lemon-Lime soda. The lesson at Ruben's was pretty good. We taught him about the ten commandments and the amazing thing was during the lesson, we were able to find the Book of Mormon in his native language. Wahoo score! He seems to understand that language a lot better. Oh... also we were able to bring Bro. Ed and Sister Willmore to that lesson with us. I couldn't stop laughing throughout the lesson because of the funny things that Ruben says when he meets new people.

That was my week, pretty dang exciting huh.
Love you all!

Mystery

Well this transfer is going to be a mystery for sure. I have no clue who my new comp is and I am hoping he is pretty easy going because I can't handle people who aren't easy going. His name is Elder Perkins.

This week has been really slow definitely not much at all has happened, sorry. We did get Ruben back on date. He said he would be baptized a day after his b-day. We got to have dinner with him last night and it was awesome. Phillippino food is incredible so you should go try it. Seriously!

The Alex (8) is doing well we are really happy with his progression.

Alex (30) is...well it is a big predicament with him and his family and a bunch of other things so please just keep praying for them.

We've also had some people drop us this week...which is definitely difficult.

We are seeing Andreas today. We are going to be teaching him about Repentance and invite him to get his parents permission to come to church.

Sister Goodwin just got a calling as a Sunday School teacher which is super aweome.

We just lost our car which stinks. It is going to be very sad having to bike everywhere.

I am not sure what else to write to you guys. I am super stressed now. However, the gospel can bless us and that is what I am going to try and keep teaching. Have a good one this week sorry for such a short email.

Nacho Libre Victory Dance!

Well this week has been filled with service and it was awesome not having to wear proselyting gear! We probably accumulated about 20 service hours. I totally loved it.

Much of our week was spent doing service. However we are trying to formulate a plan to maybe start teaching one of the people we are doing service for. He is a pretty good guy and I really like listening to the stories has to tell. His name is Chris, pray that we will know how to bring up the gospel to him.

We were also able to get a non-member to our potluck this week. Her name is Lupy and she said that it was great. She was also invited to a Relief Society activity that is happening this week. Which is great!  She is a really nice lady and we are hoping to start teaching her about the Restoration. Probably some time today.

We were also able to contact one of our potentials named Isidro. He is Hispanic and had no problem inviting us in to his home. We were able to teach him about the Restoration and he seemed to really understand it. I hope he will read the book of Mormon.  He is such a nice guy.

We taught Ruben on Saturday and we taught him about growing his faith like unto a seed and he was really getting it.  We had our ward mission leader there along with Brother Ed. They are both pretty great. We think Ruben really understands the reason that we want him to read the Book of Mormon. The other cool thing was that he brought his friend Tess to the lesson as well. Which we are really excited about because we might be able to bring two people to the waters of Baptism!

On Sunday, we got to see Bishop Oliver for the first time after his vacation. He told us that when he went to church over on the east side of the states they went to a stake conference and he was lucky enough to meet Elder Rasband of the Qurom of the twelve Apostles. Which is totally cool!

Then we were able to catch Alex (the older). He talked about how he has been really busy with his business that he is working, but on the upside he has been reading the Book of Mormon with his wife still. Nacho Libre victory dance! We will be stopping by his house on Wednesday to see if we can teach him about the Plan of Salvation.

As we were walking back to our apartment...I had the feeling we should knock on our neighbor's door and talk to him. His name is Joseph Newbill. He is awesome...he told us about how much trust he has in God and some experiences of the blessings he has received because of that trust. He invited us in right away and let us teach him about the Restoration of God's church. The spirit in the room was amazing, very indescribable. He then gave us some of his insight which was actually really cool. He told us that he was very amazed at what we are doing at such a young age. Then he thanked us for it. We then invited him to read the Book of Mormon and he accepted. I really think he will, because he is a pretty big reader. Round two of Nacho Libre Victory Dance!

Well you all have good-day and stay positive and trust in God!
